Number 9 in Thai
Dot Mandala painting in hues of gold, purple and green depicting the number 9 in Thai.
Thai people consider number 9 ('gao') very lucky for various reasons.
It is supposed to bring most good fortune in Thailand.
The Thai word for nine, gao, has special status because it sounds similar to
two other important Thai words: Kow-nah can be translated as progress or moving forward
whilst the staple food of Thailand, rice, is called khao.
This number is so important that on 09-09-09 at 09:09 a.m. the whole nation stood still in order
to sing the national anthem.
